Ford Financial Management

Helping you to Sleep Well At Night through solution-focused financial counseling - Our SWANSystem

Expert & Professional

What really is solution-focused financial counseling?

In a nutshell, we place minimal emphasis on your past problems and issues. Rather, we focus on your strengths and resources to build solutions. Instead of focusing on past failings, we focus on past successes. Solution-focused financial counseling is future-oriented.

Five main principles of our solution-focused financial counseling:
*If it’s not broken, don’t fix it
*If it works, do more of it
*If it doesn’t work, do something different
*Small steps lead to big changes
*Not every problem happens all the time. There are exceptions.

What we do at Ford Financial Management:
*Talk about your preferred future and how you want that to look
*Help you create goals that are in line with your preferred future
*Find your inherent skills and resources and how to use them

What we don’t do at Ford Financial Management:
*Dwell and place emphasis on your past financial problems
*Judge or criticize you for your past
*Tell you what to do. Rather, we come up with solutions collaboratively because you are the expert of your own life.

Clients seek financial help for a variety of reasons.  But all of them know there is a problem that needs solving. Just the fact that they are aware of a problem means they can compare it to a time when there wasn’t a problem! Doing more of the same doesn’t tend to solve problems. Something must be done and must be done differently.

Elizabeth (Liz) Spracklen

Accredited Financial Counselor®

I am Elizabeth (Liz) Spracklen. It is always exciting to be chosen to help walk along with people who want to do better with personal finance! My background is that I am a Navy veteran, married to a Navy retired submariner, and currently have one active duty Navy submariner serving. I started off woefully personal finance challenged until one day I realized that our family really needed to do better. My husband and I needed to be a better example to our children so that they could take charge of their financial choices better prepared. I am an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC® Professional) with a specialty in understanding the unique financial aspects of military service members and their families. My interests include dancing, which I do poorly but enthusiastically; laser software systems projects; volunteer tax preparing; swimming; traveling; and reading. In essence, I love continuous learning in order to improve no matter what field.
